Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position at a Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center requiring at least 1 year of Level 1 trauma or 2 years of Level 2 trauma ED experience.

Details

  • Emergency Department unit in a Level 1 trauma, stroke, STEMI, and regional burn center hospital
  • 68-bed unit with routine 4:1 patient ratios that may vary during surge or high-volume periods
  • High-acuity, high-volume unit seeing 200+ patients per day
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Weekend shifts required as needed by facility
  • No on-call requirements
  • No floating required
  • 13 to 26 week assignment length
  • Night shift staff orient on day shift and must be available the entire orientation week
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

  • Active RN license eligible for Missouri licensure or current Missouri RN license
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA only), TNCC, and NIHSS (may start without NIHSS but must obtain prior to start)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department experience in a Level 1 Trauma facility, or 2 years in a Level 2 Trauma facility
  • Trauma/pediatric experience and high-acuity ED experience preferred
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Must be able to stand and walk most of shift, push and pull patients on stretchers and wheelchairs
  • Must be able to push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs, pinch up to 15 lbs, and kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally
  • Must have no employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinate patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize care and comfort
  • Maintain professional accountability and evaluate care provided by other direct caregivers
  • Black scrubs required; jeans and unprofessional attire not permitted
  • Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 through April 1, with no declinations accepted
  • RTO must be made up during the assignment and will not be approved during the first week
  • Only 1 holiday RTO request permitted per assignment
  • Determined, decisive, and flexible personality traits valued in this fast-paced trauma center environment
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
