Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring 2+ years of Level 3 or higher trauma center experience and a WA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Level 3 Trauma Center with a Level 3 NICU, 388-bed hospital
  • 24-bed ER unit, including 8 behavioral health rooms in a locked unit
  • Patient population includes psych, trauma, general medical, sepsis, cardiac, stroke, abdominal pain, and chest pain cases
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:4-5, up to 1:5-6 for low acuity patients
  • EPIC EMR required for all RNs
  • Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system
  • Support staff includes 2-4 CNA/ER techs, receptionist/HUC, non-patient-taking charge nurse, 24/7 RT and hospitalist coverage
  • 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • No routine floating; rare float to free-standing ER or elsewhere within the facility as a helping hand

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, NIHSS, TNCC or ATCN certifications required
  • MOAB/CPI certification acceptable to obtain after start
  • 2+ years of ER experience in a Level 3 trauma center or higher required
  • Skills in RSI, conscious sedation, and lines/drains/tubes required
  • EPIC EMR experience required

  • Provide direct emergency department nursing care across a wide range of acute and trauma cases
  • Techs support with splinting, straight sticks, IV discontinuation, wound care, and EKGs
  • Unit utilizes a 1:1 preceptor model for new RNs
  • Scrubs may be any professional, solid color

  • Unit culture emphasizes strong teamwork in a fast-paced, stressful environment
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • Holiday coverage required as needed per unit
  • Time off requests up to 7 days approved by scheduling; additional requests require nurse manager approval
