Thrive Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

The position is located in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in oncology. The unit consists of 18 beds and caters primarily to adult oncology and trauma patients.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
  • Strong PCU experience is acceptable, but oncology experience is preferred.
  • Charge nurse experience is required.

Certifications

  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • ONS/ONCC certification is preferred but not required.

Patient Ratios

Day and night ratios are 1:4 to 1:5.

Shifts

  • 12-hour shifts available: 0630 to 1900, 1830 to 0700.
  • Every other weekend commitment required.
  • Self-scheduling with consideration to unit needs.

Floating

Travelers may float to other Medical/Surgical and PCU units. Float assignments will maintain the same level of care.

Orientation

Two days of unit orientation provided.

Drips & Skills

  • RNs occasionally titrate insulin and Cardizem drips.
  • Common drips/medications include chemotherapy, Heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix.
  • Travelers should be comfortable managing additional titratable drips.

Respiratory Equipment

Travelers will commonly encounter high-flow oxygen equipment.

Support Staff

Support staff available includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, physical/occupational therapists, RN case managers, social workers, educators, and dietitians.

Patient Experience

Hourly rounding and bedside shift reports are vital aspects of enhancing the patient experience.

Cancellation Policy

The facility may cancel up to 4 shifts for assignments of 13 weeks or fewer, and up to 3 shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.

Charting System

The electronic medical record system used is EPIC.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS
  • BLS (AHA)
