Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
Patient Population
The Emergency Department serves a diverse patient population, including:
- Pediatrics to geriatrics
- Trauma cases
- Gunshot wounds (GSW)
- Sepsis
- COVID-19
- STEMI patients (high volume)
- Stroke cases
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Mental health issues
- Respiratory issues
- Geriatric falls
- Adult psychiatric emergencies
Staffing and Patient Ratios
Day Shift Patient Ratios:
- 1:4-5 (flexibility to accommodate 5 based on patient acuity and staffing levels)
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- CPI/MOAB (Crisis Prevention Institute/Management of Aggressive Behavior)
Skills and Experience
Essential skills required for this position include:
- General ED experience including cardiac rhythm interpretation and IV skills
- Basic knowledge of drips and medication administration
- Experience with procedural sedation and blood administration
- TNK administration experience preferred
- Familiarity with cardiac medications
- Recent experience with EPIC charting system is required
Unit Support and Resources
- ER Technicians available for glucose checks and splinting assistance
- Charge Nurse rarely takes an assignment to focus on leadership duties
- Float Nurse available for support
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- ED Educator for ongoing support and training
- Security personnel present for safety
- House Supervisor available 24/7
- Social Work Services assigned to the ED around the clock
- Pharmacy support available 24/7 for medication assistance
Orientation and Training
- Day 1: New Employee Orientation (NEO including badge and EPIC training as needed)
- Day 2: 12-hour shift with a preceptor on assigned shift
- Telemetry competency required to be completed and passed prior to start
Scheduling Information
Shifts are available as follows:
- Days and mids starting at 0700 and 1100
- Mids and nights starting at 1500 and 1900
Scheduling is flexible and provided three weeks in advance, with notice given around 10 days prior to the start date. Weekend shifts will vary based on unit needs. Time off requests are subject to management approval.

- Scrub colors: Any professional colors are acceptable.
