Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center, requiring NC or compact RN licensure and prior trauma center experience.

Details

• Emergency Department at a Level 1 Trauma designated academic medical center
• Unit includes 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 behavioral health holding beds
• Average census of 200-220 patients per day
• Fast-paced regional trauma center receiving all ED patients including frequent air transport arrivals
• Treats ESI 1-5 patients with trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn, and other emergent conditions such as GSWs, MVCs, cardiac/respiratory arrest, overdoses, and psychiatric emergencies
• RN patient ratios range from 3:1 to 6:1 based on clinical area and acuity
• LPN ratios range from 4:1 to 6:1 based on clinical area and acuity
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week
• Every-other-weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• May float to the ED Transition Care Unit
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, GE point-of-care ultrasound, and GE EKG machines

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers considered only with 3+ years of Level 1 trauma center experience
• Minimum 12 months of core ED experience within the last year required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care using evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making across a wide range of trauma and emergency diagnoses
• Support team includes ED Techs, Unit Secretary, Charge Nurse, 24/7 Critical Care Pharmacists, Paramedic Staff, Resource Nurse/Pod Leaders, 24/7 Respiratory Therapy, Hospitalists, and Intensivists
• Travelers will not likely staff trauma bays during initial contracts
• Unit is currently under renovation, with plans for two fixed-wing helicopter pads upon completion
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) and 2 days of departmental orientation
• Royal blue scrub color required

• Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for consideration
• Returning employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
