Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital requiring 2+ years of ED experience and TNCC certification.

Details

  • Level 1 Trauma Regional Emergency Department in an 885-bed academic medical center
  • Unit includes 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, and 5 BH holding beds
  • Average census of 200-220 patients per day
  • Treats full ESI 1-5 acuity range including trauma, stroke, STEMI, burn, GSW, MVC, cardiac/respiratory arrest, overdose, and psychiatric cases
  • RN patient ratios range from 3:1 to 6:1 based on acuity and clinical area
  • Currently receives air flights with plans for 2 fixed-wing helicopter pads post-renovation
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
  • May float to the ED Transition Care Unit
  • Travelers not likely utilized in trauma bays during initial contract period

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
  • First-time travelers considered only with 3+ years of Level 1 trauma center experience
  • Minimum 12 months of core ED experience with most recent experience within the last year
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Deliver comprehensive emergency nursing care using evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making
  • Supported by ED Techs, Unit Secretary, Charge Nurse, Resource/Pod Leaders, 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, Intensivist, and Critical Care Pharmacists
  • Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and GE ultrasound and EKG machines
  • Facility orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Royal blue scrubs required
  • Free parking provided
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Returning travelers must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position
