- Schedule: Rotating weekends; no regular on-call requirement, except potential flexing during low-volume periods
- Clinical Setting: Standard emergency department with approximately 7 beds
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Attire: Navy scrubs
Emergency Department RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience; emergency department nursing experience strongly preferred
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- Ability to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills
- Preferred emergency nursing certifications include TNCC, ENPC, NRP, CEN, CPEN, or CTRN
- Flexibility to support med-surg coverage when needed, although floating is limited
Emergency Department Nurse Responsibilities
- Assess, triage, and care for patients presenting with a broad range of urgent and emergent conditions
- Perform standard emergency department nursing procedures in accordance with clinical guidelines and department protocols
- Administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and promptly communicate changes in condition
- Collaborate with providers and fellow nurses to coordinate timely, patient-centered care
- Maintain accurate electronic health record documentation in Cerner
- Support a positive patient experience through clear communication, empathy, and professionalism
- Participate in rotating weekend coverage and assist with unit needs during fluctuating patient volumes
