Description

American Traveler is seeking an Emergency Department RN for a Level IV trauma facility requiring TX or compact RN license and 2 years of ED experience.

Details

  • 13-week assignment in a 5-bed Emergency Department within a Level IV Trauma Facility
  • Facility also includes a 16-bed Med/Surg Unit and 2-bed IMC
  • Night shift schedule from 18:45-07:15
  • Every other weekend required
  • On-call required for 3 shifts per 6 weeks
  • Treats adult and pediatric patients with acute injuries and life-threatening conditions including stroke, STEMI, fractures, concussions, and minor illnesses
  • Typical staffing includes 2 RNs with a mid-shift LVN or RN on most days
  • Uses Compass/Cerner EHR

Requirements

  • Active TX or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • TNCC preferred but not required
  • Current license and primary source verification (Nursys) required within 30 days prior to start
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment
  • Strong critical thinking and decisive judgment skills required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans while coordinating care across disciplines
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate
  • Assess and coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team
  • Patients requiring higher levels of care are stabilized and transferred to network hospitals for specialty services
  • Navy blue scrubs or scrub jacket required
  • Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates at a reduced rate
