Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Unit Information

Location: San Antonio, TX

Number of Beds: 13 beds plus a fast track area with 6 chairs

Number of Staff: 40 total

Shift Details

• Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, 1 reception Patient Care Technician (PCT)
• Midshift: 3 RNs, 1-2 hallway PCTs
• Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, 1 reception PCT

Patient Ratios

• 1:4 unless assigned to fast track area (low acuity patients in chairs), then 1:6

Equipment

• Vitals machines
• Portable EKG machines
• Glucometers
• Transport monitors
• Belmont rapid transfuser

Electronic Medical Records (EMR)

System Used: Meditech

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Previous experience working in an emergency department

Preferred Skills

• Ultrasound-guided IV placement

Responsibilities

• Triage patients
• Medication administration
• Splinting of fractures

Required Certifications

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Availability

• No on-call required
• Weekend availability as needed

Contract Length

This position is for a duration of 13 weeks.
