Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department in Montgomery, AL. This is an exciting opportunity for first-time travelers with at least 2 years of critical care experience, including Emergency Department experience at level III or higher. You will be part of a dedicated team providing exceptional care to patients in a fast-paced environment.

General Information:

  • Number of Beds: 32; up to 40 with hallway beds
  • Patient Types: General Emergency Department - combined Adult/Pedi, including Diabetes, HTN, cardiac, and respiratory distress
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4

Required Certifications:

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI or similar (online version accepted)
  • TNCC (preferred)

Skills Required:

  • Chest tube, art line, central line care/management, trach care
  • Intubation/extubation, conscious sedation, IV therapy
  • Nasogastric insertion/management, Foley insertion/management, splinting, and related ED procedures

Support on the Unit:

  • CNA: Not applicable
  • Receptionist/HUC: Days only
  • Charge nurse: Yes, not in patient assignment
  • Phlebotomy: Most days
  • IV/VAT Team: PICC Team (day shift only)
  • Hospitalist: Yes
  • Telemetry monitoring tech: No
  • Are RNs required to read/measure tele strips? Yes

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: Cerner
  • IV pumps: Plum 360
  • Medication dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Spacelabs

Orientation:

  • New Hires or >1yr: 24 hours in classroom and 24 hours on the unit
  • Rehires pending last date

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule
  • On call: No
  • Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy
  • Approval of time off: Up to 7 days off can be approved on your behalf, excluding provided blackout dates
  • Shift times: 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, 3p-3a
  • Schedule cycle: Every other weekend, two Mondays and two Fridays each schedule (every 6 weeks)
