Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for a Level II Trauma Center night shift position requiring at least 2 years of trauma ED experience and multiple specialty certifications.

Details

• Work in a 32-bed combined Adult/Pediatric Emergency Department with an average daily census of 120
• Level II Trauma Center, STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility
• 1:4 patient ratios for all shifts
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 or 3x12 hours (1900-0730)
• Weekend shifts required as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
• Cerner charting system used, experience preferred
• 280 staffed beds, acute care hospital setting

Requirements

• Active IL RN license or ETA required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required
• Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC (ENPC and NRP preferred)
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and multisystem organ dysfunction management
• Experience with blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV starts required
• Experience with continuous IV sedation/paralytics, vasopressors, and procedural sedation required
• Experience managing neurological emergencies including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain/spinal cord injury
• Experience with pediatric emergencies including respiratory, infectious, and behavioral health conditions
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, overdose, and suicidal patients
• Respiratory care skills including intubation, ventilator management, chest tube care, and ABG interpretation required
• Experience with gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations required
• Triage and isolation precaution/PPE knowledge required
• Ortho-trauma case experience required
• Cerner charting experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

• Provide comprehensive emergency care to a combined adult and pediatric patient population in a high-acuity Level II Trauma Center
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Parking permit required, provided at no cost during orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Previous permanent or PRN employees must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO should ideally not exceed 5 days
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Travel pairs are not accepted
