Emergency Room RN Job Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Hawaii
  • At least 1 year of recent registered nursing experience, preferably in emergency, medical-surgical, or critical access hospital settings
  • Strong emergency nursing assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to float between the Emergency Department and medical-surgical units
  • Strong EPIC electronic health record experience
  • Ability to work rotating day and night shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Current certifications required for nursing practice and assignment compliance

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to Emergency Department patients
  • Perform focused nursing assessments, monitor patient conditions, and identify changes requiring immediate intervention
  • Prioritize care for patients with varying levels of acuity in a fast-paced emergency nursing environment
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established orders and clinical standards
  • Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care
  • Float to medical-surgical assignments as needed and provide comprehensive bedside nursing care
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes in EPIC
  • Support continuity of care through patient education, discharge preparation, and effective handoff communication
