Emergency Room Registered Nurse Requirements
- At least 3 years of Emergency Room Registered Nurse or Emergency Department RN experience required
- Recent Emergency Room experience required
- Recent acute care hospital experience within the past 5 years required
- Active Oregon Registered Nurse license required
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required
- Workplace violence prevention training required, either before placement or within the applicable onboarding period
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification required, or must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Emergency Nurses Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification required, or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
- Trauma Nursing Core Course certification required, or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
- Certified Emergency Nurse certification or equivalent preferred
Emergency Department RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, timely, and compassionate nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department
- Perform focused assessments, monitor patient conditions, and promptly identify changes in patient status
- Prioritize care for patients with a wide range of emergent and urgent medical conditions
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols and provider orders
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support effective patient outcomes
- Assist with emergency procedures, patient stabilization, and patient education
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and discharge information
- Maintain a calm, professional, and patient-centered approach in a dynamic emergency care environment
