Travel Nurse Job Details
- Job Title: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Salem, Massachusetts
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 1, 2026
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, approximately 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Department: 65-bed, pod-based Emergency Department with pediatric and acute mental health areas
- Patient Population: Patients of all ages and acuity levels
- Typical Volume: Approximately 230 patient visits per day
- Patient-to-Nurse Ratio: Approximately 1:4
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic ASAP
- Floating: May be required to the 16-bed Emergency Department Observation area and acute mental health observation area
- Shift Rotation: Occasional rotation may be requested; night assignments generally remain on nights
Emergency Department RN Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Massachusetts
- Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Proficiency in general Emergency Department nursing practices, including IV therapy, phlebotomy, EKGs, cardiac monitoring, point-of-care testing, splinting, clinical documentation, and patient education
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certifications are strongly preferred
Emergency Department Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient, and compassionate nursing care to Emergency Department patients across a broad range of conditions and acuity levels
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor clinical status, and promptly identify changes requiring intervention
- Initiate and manage emergency treatments, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, EKGs, phlebotomy, and point-of-care testing
- Use sound clinical judgment to prioritize care in a busy Emergency Department with high daily patient volume
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ancillary staff, patients, and families to coordinate care
- Document assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and discharge education accurately in Epic ASAP
- Support care delivery in the Emergency Department Observation and acute mental health observation areas when assigned
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, follow-up care, and safety precautions
