Description:
This position involves planning, evaluating, and implementing regular, special, and modified diets.
The aim is to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, treatment plans, and accreditation standards.
The role includes conducting nutrition assessments of clients, which involves reviewing medical charts and interviewing direct care staff.
The dietitian will also interview patients regarding their likes, dislikes, allergies, and any chewing or digestion problems.
Maintaining dietary and nutrition records, reports, and progress notes is a key responsibility.
This includes patient charting, census sheets, and treatment plans.
The dietitian may plan and conduct in-service training programs related to nutrition for both clients and staff.
Attendance at various meetings is also required, including treatment team meetings.
Candidates should possess knowledge of dietetics and nutrition, as well as state and federal guidelines and accreditation standards.
Strong interviewing and public relations skills are necessary.
The ability to interpret complex technical material from various sources and to counsel clients regarding nutrition is essential.
Candidates should be able to gather, collate, and classify information effectively.
The preparation of meaningful, concise, and accurate reports is a necessary skill for this role.
Annual renewal of the license to practice as a dietitian is required to remain in the classification after employment.
The position may involve exposure to unpredictable resident actions.
Flexibility in scheduling is important, with opportunities to work up to 30 hours per week on the first shift.
