    Description:

    SnapCare is seeking a compassionate and patient‑centered Registered Dental Hygienist to support a Mental Health Hospital - this also includes a forensic population within the hospital. The RDH will work as part of a two person team within the Dental Clinic serving both civil and forensic patient populations, helping to improve oral health outcomes while supporting the overall well-being of individuals receiving inpatient psychiatric care.

    This role requires strong clinical skills, adaptability, excellent communication, and the ability to provide patient-centered care in a behavioral health environment.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments and oral health screenings.
    • Provide preventive dental services including prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, fluoride treatments, sealants, and periodontal maintenance.
    • Obtain and review dental and medical histories, recognizing the impact of psychiatric diagnoses and medications on oral health.
    • Take, develop, and interpret dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and facility protocols.
    • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, disease prevention, nutrition, and the relationship between oral and overall health.
    • Collaborate with dentists, psychiatrists, nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to support integrated patient care.
    • Document patient assessments, treatments, and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record.
    • Monitor infection prevention and control procedures in accordance with OSHA, CDC, state, and facility guidelines.
    • Assist in identifying and addressing urgent or emergent dental concerns.
    • Support treatment planning and patient follow-up care.
    • Maintain dental equipment, supplies, and treatment areas to ensure a safe and effective clinical environment.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental meetings as assigned.


    Qualifications:

    Required
    • Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
    • Current Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in the State of CO.
    • Current CPR/BLS certification.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain facility-required background clearances and security credentials.
    • Knowledge of infection control standards and dental radiography.

    Preferred
    • Experience working in behavioral health, correctional, forensic, public health, hospital, or special needs settings.
    • Experience caring for patients with serious mental illness, cognitive impairments, developmental disabilities, or trauma histories.
    • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs).

    • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
