Job Summary
Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) specializing in Open Heart (OH) procedures, located in an acute care setting. This role involves supporting surgical teams by preparing the operating room, assisting during procedures, maintaining sterile environments, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The Technician will also participate in ongoing training, mentoring, and unit projects as designated, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of surgical operations.
Job Details
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, including days (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM), with variable schedules of 12-hour shifts (8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week). The schedule includes the first two weeks from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Friday, with subsequent shifts depending on operational needs. On-call shifts are required with a variable schedule, and weekends are variable.
- Required Qualifications: Minimum of 1+ year of Cardiovascular (CV) experience, CVOR scrubbing experience, proficiency in Endovascular and thoracic robotic procedures, NBSTSA or NCCT certification, BLS (American Heart Association), completion of an accredited surgical technology course or military training (DD-214).
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Robotics, Neuro, CV, Trauma, Transplant, and Reimplants specialties is a plus.
- Additional Information: Support for system-wide and surgical operations initiatives; accountability for sterilization criteria, maintaining sterile fields, sharps safety, and fire safety processes. The tech prepares operating room and instruments, assists with sterile processing, supports emergency response, and participates in training and mentoring activities. This role involves manual dexterity for complex equipment manipulation, navigation of crowded rooms, extended stationary standing, and effective communication during emergency situations.
