CVOR / Surgical Technologist - Day Shift - 8 x 5
Job Description
The Surgical Technologist performs a variety of essential tasks in the operating room to assist the surgical team, ensuring a sterile and organized environment for surgical procedures. This position involves preparing the operating room, handling surgical instruments, and providing support throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions.
- Assemble both sterile and non-sterile equipment; adjust and check equipment for proper function.
- Prepare patients for surgery by ensuring aseptic incision sites and assisting with positioning on the operating table.
- Assist the surgical team in donning sterile gowns and gloves.
- Pass instruments and other sterile supplies to surgeons during surgery.
- Hold retractors, cut sutures, and perform sponge or suction duties under the supervision of the surgeon.
- Assist in specimen preparation, care, and disposal for laboratory analysis.
- Label and ensure proper distribution of medications during surgery.
- Transfer patients to recovery post-surgery and maintain a clean operating environment.
- Restock and prepare the operating room for subsequent procedures.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC) preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Must meet or maintain compliance with PA state licensing requirements (e.g., Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, Act 73).
Schedule
This is a day shift position with an 8 x 5 schedule, working 5 days per week.
