Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Specialist specializing in open heart procedures is needed in Reston, Virginia. This position involves supporting complex cardiac surgeries, including CABG, MVR, TVR, and AVR procedures, in a dynamic and fast-paced hospital environment. The role requires a proactive, team-oriented approach with a focus on patient safety and efficient surgical operations.
Job Details:
- Shift: Days, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Years of Experience: 1 year required (minimum experience: 0)
- Certifications: BLS required; CNOR preferred
- Schedule: RN 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, RN 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday-Friday, CST 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday-Thursday, CST 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Monday-Friday
- Float Policy: Float to main operating rooms
- Qualifications: Teamwork, scrub or circulate procedures, room setup and turnover, handling disposables and instrument sets, sterile technique, central line setup, arterial line setup, Belmont set up and operation, cell saver setup
- Unit Specifics:
- Number of beds: 2
- Patient ratios: 1:1
- Equipment: Belmont, ESU, positioning equipment
- Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
- Staffing: Board runner, charge nurse, service line coordinators, ancillary assistance for room turnovers
- Procedures Performed: Open heart surgeries including CABG, MVR, TVR, AVR, VATS, vascular procedures
- Additional info: Focus on excellent communication skills with patients, provider relations, teamwork, and proactive planning to anticipate potential issues.
