CVOR Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Illinois
• At least 3 years of verifiable cardiovascular operating room or cardiothoracic operating room experience
• Demonstrated experience supporting robotic surgery procedures
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association
• Ability to work 10-hour day shifts and participate in a rotating call schedule
• Strong collaboration, communication, and critical-thinking skills in a high-acuity perioperative environment

CVOR RN Responsibilities

• Provide specialized perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Function effectively as a circulator and/or scrub nurse according to unit needs and clinical competency
• Support robotic cardiac and surgical procedures using safe, evidence-based nursing practices
• Prepare the cardiovascular operating room, equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and promote patient safety throughout the perioperative experience
• Monitor patient status, communicate changes promptly, and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the broader heart team
• Assist with surgical counts, specimen handling, clinical documentation, and operating room turnover
• Participate in scheduled rotational call coverage, including occasional weekend call
