Job Summary:
Operating Room First Assist (ORFA) for Open Heart procedures in a cardiac surgery setting. This role involves supporting cardiac surgical cases, assisting during intraoperative technical functions, and covering regional call to support the cardiac surgery program across the health system, including transplant procedures. The position requires travel in various transportation modes to support both donor and recipient procedures.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Day shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Graduation from an approved Surgical Assistant program, less than 1 year of experience performing second call for the cardiac service line, and a valid driver's license or state ID. Additional necessary documentation includes UHS submission packet and prior employment form.
• Preferred Qualifications: National certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or certification from the Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA), or American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA).
• Additional Information: Performs preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care during the perioperative period. Supports emergency cases both within the hospital and in outpatient settings, including the cardiac catheterization laboratory.
