Job Summary
Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) nurse position is located at a short-term acute care facility with a total of 1266 staffed beds. This role involves providing specialized perioperative care for cardiac, thoracic, vascular, and transplant cases. The position requires scrub and circulating experience, with a focus on emergent and complex cardiac procedures, primarily during night shifts. The schedule involves rotating shift times, with potential for call shifts as needed within a six-week cycle.
Job Details
- Schedule: 10-hour night shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license in Missouri or Illinois, at least 2 years of operating room experience with specific focus on cardiac, thoracic, and vascular procedures, scrub and circulate experience, ACLS and BLS certifications, experience with complex cardiac and transplant surgeries, trauma level I experience preferred, and at least 75 miles from the facility (non-local candidates only).
- Preferred Qualifications: BSN degree, experience with Heart and Lung Transplant procedures, proficiency in Epic charting system, and prior experience in a Level 1 trauma facility.
- Additional Information: Must have sufficient level 1 trauma experience and scrub experience in cardiovascular surgery. Flexibility to float within the service line is required, with shifts varying as needed. Candidate must obtain appropriate parking passes for orientation and work shifts. The role involves entering missing instruments into the CensiTrac system as discussed during orientation. No RTO beyond 7 days without approval.
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required at time of assignment confirmation; ACLS required for Barnes-Jewish Hospital location.
- License: License in hand required at time of submittal for Illinois; Missouri license submission acceptable without issuance if tied to another compact state.
- Additional Requirements: Must pass fit testing, complete required labs within 48-72 hours of signing, and complete mandatory modules prior to start date.
