Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Open Heart nurse position in a Level I trauma center within an acute care hospital. This role involves providing specialized cardiovascular and thoracic surgical care, including complex procedures such as aortic aneurysm repairs, TAVR, and vascular surgeries. The position requires a dedicated professional to work an 8-hour day shift, with opportunities for on-call duties and flexibility within scope to meet facility needs.
Job Details
- Position / Specialty: OR Open Heart (Operating Room Open Heart)
- Shift: 5x8 Days (6:15 AM 2:45 PM) with on-call requirements (1-2 nights a week, every 5th weekend)
- Schedule: 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: 3 years of solid experience in cardiovascular or thoracic surgery, active Illinois license or in application process, BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience, hospital or teaching hospital experience, scrub experience in cardiovascular, vascular, or thoracic surgeries, familiarity with complex procedures such as TAVR, ECMO, and intra-aortic balloon pump.
- Additional Responsibilities: Ability to scrub for and assist with complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries including AAA repair, valve replacements, endoscopic procedures, and vascular repairs. Knowledge of laser safety, specimen handling, and universal protocol is essential.
