Schedule: Self-scheduling; every other weekend; holidays as scheduled
Patient Ratio: 1:2; 1:1 for first 12 hours of immediate post-op cardiac surgery
Charting System: Epic preferred
Float Required: Yes – PRN to IMC; agency nurses float to IMC at 1:3 ratio
Call Requirement: No pre-scheduled on-call required
Note: 1 year experience required; first-time travelers accepted with strong 2+ years CVICU/open-heart experience. Two positions available.

Position Overview:
Provide critical care nursing for adult and geriatric cardiovascular patients, including immediate postoperative cardiac surgery patients and complex cardiac, vascular, and thoracic conditions requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring and cardiovascular support.

Job duties:

• Provide immediate postoperative care to cardiac surgery patients, including CABG and valve surgery, with 1:1 monitoring during the first 12 hours.
• Manage ventilated patients and respiratory support in collaboration with respiratory therapy, including ABG interpretation and airway suctioning.
• Monitor and manage advanced cardiovascular support including IABP, Impella, FloTrac, CRRT, and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring.
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive infusions while managing patients with cardiogenic shock, dysrhythmias, and acute cardiovascular instability.
• Provide comprehensive ICU care including arterial and central line management, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response.

Requirements:
License: Active MD RN or Compact RN License
Experience: Minimum 1 year; first-time travelers accepted with 2+ years of strong CVICU/open-heart experience
Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; AHA certifications required
Other requirement: Must be comfortable floating within specialty, to sister units, and to lower-acuity areas as needed; every other weekend required.

Patient Ratios: Days 1:2; Nights 1:2; immediate post-op cardiac surgery 1:1 for first 12 hours; IMC float 1:3
Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac surgery (CABG, valve, CABG/valve), CAD including STEMI/NSTEMI, AFib with RVR, cardiogenic shock, vascular peripheral bypasses and EVAR, and thoracic VATS patients.
