Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced CVICU RN for a night shift assignment at a Level I Trauma academic medical center, requiring 2 years of recent CVICU experience and expertise in fresh post-op cardiac cases.

Details

• Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) setting within a 628-bed academic Level I Trauma Center
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratios of 1:1 to 1:2+
• Every other weekend required
• Float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units without exception
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Navy blue scrubs required

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Stroke CEUs preferred
• 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience considered if initial CVICU training completed
• Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax required
• Proficiency with A-lines, central/PICC lines, blood product administration, and IV therapy
• Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, HFNC, and ABGs
• Experience with CVVHD/CRRT, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
• Experience with hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun and lumbar drains
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and IV insulin protocols
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to patients undergoing cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist device placement, TAVR, and ECMO
• Work within a Comprehensive Cardiac Center accredited by The Joint Commission and American Heart Association
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks based on census and staffing needs
• Required to work or provide on-call coverage for winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) per unit needs
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Former health system employees (FT or PRN) must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
