ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. This position requires a strong background in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units (CVICU), with hands-on experience in critical patient care.

Scheduled Details

• 12-hour day shifts
• Every other weekend
• Holiday shifts required on Memorial Day
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation

Unit Information

The role is centered on the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, focusing on advanced cardiac care and management of critically ill patients.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years of CVICU experience. An EKG competency test will be required for verification of skills.

Float Requirements

There may be occasional floating to multiple locations within the region, including MICU, ICU, or other relevant units as needed.

Licensure and Certifications

• Active Illinois nursing license
• CPR certification
• ACLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Epic experience preferred

Key Skills

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and abilities:

• Expertise in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Knowledge of multi-system organ failure and thermoregulation
• Experience with CABG, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, and Impella
• Ability to care for patients post-cardiac surgery
• Competence in pre/post cardiac catheterization interventions
• Familiarity with pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• Experience with valve replacement/repair and LVAD/RVAD management
• Understanding of continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT) and CVVHD
• IV therapy skills, including accessing ports and managing central lines
• Proficiency in administering medications, including cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Ability to manage patients with CVA/acute stroke
• Management of BiPAP and CPAP, as well as care for ventilated patients
• Expertise in ventilator management and interpretation of ABGs
• Experience with infection prevention and isolation precautions
• Phlebotomy and care of surgical wounds
