Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU role requiring 2+ years of CVICU experience and immediate post-op open heart care expertise.

Details

• CVICU setting with 6 beds and average daily census of 3-5 patients
• 1:2 patient ratio
• Common diagnoses include post-op cardiac surgery (CABG, MVR, AVR), structural heart procedures (TAVR, mitral clips), STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and Inari procedures
• Manages complex post-op patients requiring inotropic support, hemodynamic instability management, OHS/Impella, ECMO, CRRT, and IABP
• 3x12 rotating shifts with mids (11:00-23:30) as primary shift; other rotating day/night shifts as needed by unit
• Every third weekend required with possible additional coverage based on unit needs
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• Floating required to MSICU as needed
• On-call required 24-36 hours per rotating 6-week schedule
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active MD or Compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications required
• OCN and TCNN certifications preferred
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
• Immediate post-op open heart experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care preferred
• Experience with ECMO, IABP, and Impella management preferred
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and acute renal failure management
• Skilled in titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Teaching and community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct post-operative care for cardiac surgery patients including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and TAVR
• Manage patients on ECMO, IABP, and Impella support
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and emergency response
• Work closely with on-site perfusionist and dialysis teams for ECMO and CRRT cases
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced travel rate
• First-time travelers considered with required CVICU experience
• Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope without restrictions
