Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with strong Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience and immediate post–open heart care skills. This travel nursing job is ideal for a critical care nurse who thrives in high-acuity environments and delivers exceptional care to adult and geriatric cardiac patients.

• Orientation: 24 hours
• Float: May float to MSICU as needed
• Weekends: Every third weekend required
• Holidays: Required as scheduled
• On-Call: 24–36 hours on a rotating schedule
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,290–$2,410

Job Requirements

• Active Maryland RN license or Compact RN license at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience required
• Immediate open-heart post-op experience required
• Direct experience caring for post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Epic charting experience required
• Current ACLS, BLS, CPI, and NIHSS certifications required
• OCN and TNCC preferred
• Comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patients in a critical care setting
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as scheduled

Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care for CVICU patients with complex and rapidly changing conditions
• Manage immediate post-op open heart patients, including CABG, MVR, and AVR cases
• Care for high-acuity cardiac patients with hemodynamic instability, cardiogenic shock, STEMI/NSTEMI, and structural heart conditions
• Support patients requiring inotropic infusions, vasoactive drips, IABP, Impella, ECMO, and CRRT
• Monitor and interpret invasive lines, hemodynamic values, dysrhythmias, and ABGs
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and other members of the critical care team
• Float within scope to support related intensive care needs
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit protocols, safety standards, and patient care best practices
