Description

American Traveler is hiring a Critical Care Float RN for a Surgical ICU role requiring 2 years CVICU experience and PA or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Critical Care Float pool position within a Surgical Intensive Care Unit at a teaching hospital and Trauma Level I facility
  • Adult patient population with ratios ranging from 1:1 to 3:1
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Floating required across critical care units
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Epic charting system used

Requirements

  • Active PA state RN license or Compact RN license required in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Critical Care Float Pool experience preferred
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • TNCC certification preferred
  • Experience in teaching hospital and Trauma Level I settings required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Experience with chest tube insertion/removal assistance and BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Cardiovascular skills including care of ECMO patients, CABG, IABP, Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring, and TAVR
  • LVAD/RVAD management experience required
  • Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation
  • CRRT/CVVHD experience preferred
  • Experience managing dysrhythmias and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred
  • PA fingerprint clearance and Childline results within 12 months required
  • Must complete labs within 48 hours of signing
  • Pass/Fail clinical exam required with maximum of 3 attempts
  • Valid state license or certification required at time of consideration
  • Two valid professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
  • Copies of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing support across float assignments in a high-acuity Surgical ICU
  • Work within a teaching hospital and Level I trauma center environment
  • Complete facility orientation modules during scheduled orientation period
  • RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; no additional time off accepted after submission
  • Interview availability of 3-5 days should be provided to prioritize scheduling
  • Local candidates accepted within 50 miles at a different rate
  • Candidates must reside within 50-mile radius for local rate eligibility
