Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Knoxville, TN | 13-Week Contract
Experienced CVICU travel nurses can bring critical care expertise to a high-acuity cardiovascular intensive care unit in Knoxville, Tennessee. This 13-week travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to care for adult and geriatric patients while managing complex cardiac and multisystem conditions. Work three 12-hour night shifts per week in a collaborative healthcare environment, then enjoy Knoxville’s vibrant downtown, scenic parks, nearby waterways, and easy access to the Great Smoky Mountains during your time off.
Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: Approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Two weekends per month or every other weekend
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
- Typical Ratios: Approximately 1:1 in CVICU and 1:2–3 in ICU settings
- Floating: Flexibility to float as needed based on clinical competency
CVICU Travel Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or a valid compact RN license
- At least 1 year of recent CVICU or comparable critical care nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Successful completion of an EKG competency test before the start date
- Demonstrated experience with critical care documentation; Cerner experience is preferred
- Current licenses and certifications must remain valid through the required assignment compliance period
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
CVICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for high-acuity cardiovascular and critically ill patients
- Monitor and manage patients with STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, CHF, sepsis, DKA, and other complex diagnoses
- Interpret dysrhythmias, EKGs, arterial blood gases, and hemodynamic data
- Manage arterial lines, central lines, pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring, chest tubes, and continuous IV sedation
- Titrate cardiac, vasoactive, and other critical care infusions according to patient condition and clinical protocols
- Care for ventilated patients and manage BiPAP and CPAP therapies
- Provide care for patients receiving IABP, Impella, CRRT/CVVHD, post-CABG care, and post-valve replacement care
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, radiology, rapid response, and other interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Maintain accurate critical care documentation, uphold infection prevention standards, and promote safe, evidence-based patient care
