Description
American Traveler is hiring a CVICU RN with open heart surgery, ECMO, Impella, and IABP experience for a 13-week night shift assignment.
Details
- Cardiovascular ICU setting receiving patients directly from the OR
- Patient population includes sedated, intubated adults and geriatrics on multiple drips with a swan line
- Patient ratios of 1:1-2
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 1900-0700
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required to ED, ICU, and CVIMC as needed
- Uses swan-ganz catheters, temp pacers, pericardial and pleural chest tubes, Impella, IABP, CRRT, and Prismaflex
- Responsibilities include vent management and titration of gtts
Requirements
- Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience with open heart surgery experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skills required include arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and suctioning (ETT, NT) experience required
- CRRT/CVVHD experience for acute/chronic renal failure required
- Experience with continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
- Experience managing post cardiac surgery patients directly from the OR required
- Pulmonary artery line/swan ganz monitoring experience required
- Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
- IV insulin protocol experience required
- Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure required
- Two professional references from assignments worked within the last 12 months required, with references within 6 months preferred
Additional Information
- Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular surgical patients
- Skills such as ECMO, sheath removal, TAVR, and GI surgery experience are preferred but not required
- Phlebotomy and port accessing/management skills are preferred
- Travelers are expected to float within the hospital as needed
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and local candidates will not be accepted
- Previous staff or travelers must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year and in good standing to be eligible for return
