Travel RN – CVICU (Night Shift)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | Expected 36 hours/week | Alternating Weekends

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiac intensive care unit with patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1 (occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity)
  • Operate and monitor advanced equipment including ventilators, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, Impella, and hypothermia devices
  • Perform titration of vesicant medications and manage pressors, sedation, and paralytics
  • Interpret telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring, including PA catheter setup and interpretation
  • Assist with or support unit procedures such as cardioversion, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis
  • Document all patient care activities using Cerner; float to other areas of the facility per traveler floating policy

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license valid in North Carolina (or compact license eligibility)
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in titration of vesicant medications, pressors, sedation, and paralytics
  • Experience with mechanical ventilators and tracheostomy care
  • Competency in telemetry interpretation and hemodynamic monitoring, including PA catheter setup and interpretation

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • CCRN certification preferred
  • Experience with IABP, Impella, and/or CRRT highly desirable
  • Familiarity with transvenous pacing, TEE, and chest tube maintenance
  • Prior experience documenting in Cerner
