Thrive Staffing is seeking a travel nurse RN CVICU for a travel nursing job in Charleston, South Carolina.

Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

The position involves working in a mixed ICU unit with a total of 28 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:2 to 1:3, including holding inpatient PCU/med surge admissions. The unit is equipped with i-mobile phones for each care team member and mobile computer workstations on wheels. The documentation system used is Meditech.

Scheduling Requirements

The schedule consists of 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, including the expectation of working every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees.

Floating Policy

Travelers may be required to float to other units, including the emergency department or PCU, to take care of ICU or PCU holds.

Patient Experience Requirements

Bedside shift report is the method utilized for patient handoff during each transfer of care.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 36 months of RN experience, with at least one year in an ICU setting.
  • Previous successful travel nursing assignment in a facility that uses Meditech preferred.
  • Must possess BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications.
  • Experience managing up to 1-3 ICU patients, including comfort with ventilator management.
  • Proficient in reading telemetry strips.
  • Prior CVICU experience preferred.
  • Advanced skills in CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy.

Procedures Performed on Unit

Experience with the following procedures is valuable:

  • Post-operative day 0 CABG (fresh heart from OR)
  • Impellas, balloon pumps, and Swan Ganz catheters
  • Advanced hemodynamic management
  • Neuro procedures, including aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage and experience with EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun for induced hypothermia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Advanced certifications preferred
  • TNCC certification preferred

Dress Code

Employees are required to wear a navy uniform.
