Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a CVICU position at an academic Level I Trauma Center requiring NJ or compact licensure and recent CVICU experience.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) of an academic Level I Trauma Center
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
  • Patient ratios of 1:1:2+ that vary based on census, patient acuity and staffing
  • Every other weekend required
  • Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays per unit needs
  • Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Required to float within skillset to all ICUs, PACU ICU holds, ED ICU holds, and Cardiac IMC units
  • EPIC charting experience required

Requirements

  • Active NJ or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Stroke CEUs preferred
  • 2 years of recent CVICU experience required; SICU experience considered if initial CVICU training was completed
  • Experience with fresh post-op cardiac cases including CABG, MVR, AVR, and TAVR required
  • Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT using PrisMax required
  • Skilled in A-lines, central/PICC lines, IV starts, blood product administration, and IV insulin protocols
  • Experience with continuous IV paralytics, sedation, and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
  • Respiratory skills including chest tube insertion/removal, BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, ABGs, and suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Cardiovascular skills including post-op open heart recovery, temporary pacers, FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and 12-lead EKG
  • Renal/neurological skills including CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, and lumbar drains
  • Knowledge of infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy
  • EPIC charting experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred

  • Provide critical care to patients undergoing cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, ventricular assist device placement, TAVR, and ECMO
  • Work within a comprehensive cardiac center accredited by The Joint Commission and American Heart Association
  • Navy blue scrubs required
