Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a CV Neuro ICU position requiring 2 years of experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

• 16-bed CV Neuro ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
• Cares for patients with stroke, ICH, SAH, SDH, brain tumors, increased ICP, hydrocephalus, and related neuro-critical diagnoses
• Also manages acute respiratory failure, sepsis, ARDS, COPD/asthma exacerbations, acute heart failure, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, and severe electrolyte abnormalities
• Titrates drips including norepinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, phenylephrine, and dopamine
• Two clinical techs support the unit's 16 patients
• RT equipment includes mechanical ventilators, HFNC, and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP)
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit; RNs must read their own strips using Phillips monitors
• Night shift schedule, 7P to 7A, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• 13-week assignment

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Must pass an ECG exam on day 2 of assignment (pass/fail)

Additional Information

• Provides critical care nursing to complex neuro and medical ICU patients
• Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year (Major: Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day/day after; Minor: Labor Day, 4th of July, Memorial Day)
• Navy blue scrubs required
