This position requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans. Responsibilities include maintaining competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job. Understanding and operating CT equipment and related information systems is essential to ensure the production of quality images. Ensuring proper patient identification and order verification, as well as preparing the patient for the exam, is critical. Exams should be performed per department protocol. Reviewing and evaluating images for quality, clarity, and accuracy is necessary to ensure all anatomical structures are captured. Adhering to radiation safety guidelines and maintaining a safe working environment for patients and staff is paramount. Completing studies within acceptable time limitations while ensuring quality care is expected. Providing appropriate patient education and addressing patient and/or family concerns is important. Coordinating patient care and communicating pertinent information to other providers following the procedure is required. Practicing appropriate infection control and sterile techniques is mandatory. Accurate record-keeping of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents is necessary. Following protocols for medical necessity, coding and charging, and obtaining necessary consents is essential. Under physician supervision, administering contrast media to patients per protocol and providing education regarding safety concerns is important. Staying updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols through continuing education is encouraged. Assisting and instructing students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment is also part of the job. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in operating CT equipment with a strong understanding of imaging techniques and protocols. Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize tasks are required. The ability to function independently and as part of a team is essential. Maintaining a clean, neat, and safe environment for patients and staff is a fundamental aspect of the role.
