Description

Job Summary: Provides health care services applying pulsed x-ray energy to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs CT procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure. Job Responsibilities: --40% ENFORCES HOSPITAL POLICIES AND MAINTAINS DEPARTMENT EFFICIENCY AND PROFICIENCY: -Maintains a cohesive working relationship and spirit of cooperation with coworkers, other employees and related individuals. -Sets a positive example for staff through professional knowledge, appearance, personal conduct and interactions. -Maintains a professional working environment and follows all hospital policies and guideline recommendations. -Follow and implement hospital policies and guideline recommendations. -Proactively plans and executes daily patient flow and staff schedule -Assist CT Coordinator with staff selection, training, and competency. -Assists Radiologists and management with establishing protocols. -Actively participates in training new employees on equipment functionality, exam protocols and modifications. -Provides supervision and instruction to imaging students on site for clinical rotation. -Wears assigned personal dosimetry. --15% IMAGE QUALITY ASSURANCE: -Produce quality images for Radiologist s review. -Prepares copy of images and records image release in electronic health record. -Verifies images archived to and PACS and notifies PACS administrator of any issues. -Sends images to tele-radiology service after hours as instructed. -Participates in image Peer Review with CT Coordinator. -Works with lead CT Technologist, CT Coordinator and Radiologist on ACR accreditation as needed. --15% QUALITY CONTROL IN THE WORK AREA: -Must be able to complete warm up and QC on equipment, (i.e. room checks, contrast reactions/infiltrates as required). -Orders and/or restocks supplies and linens. -Report all equipment malfunction to the proper personnel. -Report any environmental safety concerns to proper personnel. -Stays up to date on regulatory standards and changes. -Manages physical and financial resources within established guidelines. -Includes monitoring supply inventory, assuring equipment properly maintained and proposal for budgeting items related to CT. -Stays up to date on regulatory standards and changes. --30% EXECUTES PATIENT CARE DUTIES: -Verifies orders, verifies patient name/birth date and history. -Performs and documents peripheral venipuncture when necessary for exams. -Documents all incidents related to patient care in electronic health record (example-incident reports, medications given, contrast reactions, infiltrates, etc.) -Performs and documents time out procedure for invasive procedures. -Provides post processing for exams per department protocol. -Follow department protocol for all exams. -Works with transport and nursing units to coordinate patient exams -Continuously monitors the patient throughout the exam. -Use Radiation protection for patient and self. -Utilize ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for all exams. -Adjust exam protocols for pediatric patients in accordance to ACR Image Gently. -Assist Radiologist and authorized providers with exams/procedures as necessary. OR -Military training graduate of JRCERT-accredited program as validated by the worker's active ARRT Certification. Preferred Education: -N/A Required Certifications & Licensure: -BLS. -Current American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Registry in Radiography RT(R). -Current Commonwealth of Kentucky Radiation License with the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy. -ARRT (CT) Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -N/A Job Category: Clinical-Allied
