Amergis Healthcare Staffing, Inc. is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care in a variety of critical care settings. Consistently performs according to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities include monitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management, medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central line care, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status. The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
UNIT DESCRIPTION The Intensive Care Unit is a 13 bed, general critical care environment providing comprehensive care for patients with life-threatening conditions across a broad spectrum of medical and surgical diagnoses. The unit manages complex cases including septic shock, acute respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation, multi-organ dysfunction, post-operative complications, hemodynamic instability, and advanced critical care interventions. Nurses in this unit are experienced in ventilator management, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, CRRT (if applicable), and titration of multiple vasoactive and sedative infusions. The ICU operates within a highly collaborative model with intensivists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy, requiring strong clinical judgment and the ability to manage rapidly evolving patient conditions. RESPONSIBILITIES
•Administers patient care under the direction of a physician. Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
•Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient’s response to that care. •Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures.
•Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning. •Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication. •Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.
•Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs.
•Develops clinical and operational excellence in self and in peers through education and training
. •Promotes a safe, clean and secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.
•Ensures competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.
