Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - Critical Care Float for a Level I Trauma academic hospital requiring multi-ICU experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Critical Care Float position covering multiple ICU units including Neuro ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, Burn ICU, Trauma Surgery, and IMC/Progressive/General care populations
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 1900-0730
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • Some holiday coverage required
  • Required to float across ICU units as needed
  • Epic EMR required, experience within the past 12 months preferred

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certification required (AHA only)
  • NIHSS and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty being applied to
  • 5 years of experience preferred
  • Academic Level I Trauma Center experience required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with CVP monitoring, IABP, and pre/post cardiac cath/intervention care required
  • Experience with CVA/stroke management, ICP monitoring, and post-neurosurgery care required
  • CRRT/CVVHD experience required
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no more than one incorrect answer on 3rd degree heart block questions
  • Pediatric telemetry exam also required with an 80% or higher passing score

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties including Burn, Trauma, Neuro, Cardiovascular, and Surgical ICUs
  • Work within a Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
  • Care for patients requiring ECMO, Impella, and IABP support
  • Manage patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and complex respiratory needs including ventilator and BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Administer continuous IV sedation, paralytics, and emergency medications
  • Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
  • References are not required for consideration
  • Traveler experience required, including prior academic Level I Trauma Center experience
