Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position requiring active NJ/Compact license and at least 1.5 years of critical care experience.

Details

Combined ICU/CCU unit within a quaternary-care teaching hospital
Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
Critical care ratios of 1:1-3, or 1:4 if floated to stepdown
Required to work every other weekend
Float requirement includes ICU/CCU, CTICU, Step Down units, and ED Holding for ICU patients awaiting beds
EPIC charting experience required
Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2 weeks

Requirements

Active NJ or Compact RN license
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Minimum 1.5 years of critical care experience required
Experience with arterial line management, starting/maintaining IVs, and phlebotomy
Experience caring for ventilated patients and interpreting ABGs
Experience with post cardiac surgery patients (not directly from OR)
Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias
EPIC charting experience required
Swan-Ganz catheter experience highly preferred
Experience with or exposure to IABP, Impella, and VAD highly preferred
CTICU or medical cardiology experience preferred

Additional Information

Provide critical care nursing within a combined ICU/CCU setting at a quaternary-care regional teaching hospital
Facility is home to one of the nation's largest heart transplant programs and a Structural Heart and Valve Center performing complex procedures including TAVR
Must float within skillset to ICU/CCU, CTICU, Step Down units, and ED Holding as needed
Navy blue scrubs required
Must work or provide on-call coverage for 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's)
First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Former RWJBarnabas Health employees (full-time or PRN) must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
