Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and float flexibility across multiple critical care units.

Details

• Critical Care Float Pool role floating across multiple ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs, Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
• Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM)
• Floating required to units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active RN license (OH state or compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required
• Demonstrated skills in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple ICU specialties based on unit needs
• Responsibilities may include care of post-cardiac surgery, CVA/stroke, GI surgery, and multisystem organ dysfunction patients
• May involve EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drain care, and Swan-Ganz monitoring depending on unit assignment
• Fingerprinting must be completed promptly after contract signing due to Ohio state requirements
• Candidates residing outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location soon after booking
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for travel assignments at this health system
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract at time of application, limited to 7 days or less
