Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at an academic teaching hospital, requiring weekend night shifts and floating across multiple ICU units.

Details

  • Critical Care Float Pool position within a teaching hospital environment
  • Floats to a variety of ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs, Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
  • Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week
  • Schedule includes weekend nights (Friday/Saturday) plus one additional night shift
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR required
  • IV start, telemetry, and ventilator management experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Travel experience required
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provides critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties including neuro, surgical, medical, cardiovascular, and cardiac care
  • Skills include IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, blood product administration, ventilator management, chest tube assistance, EVD/ICP monitoring, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with post cardiac surgery care, CVA/stroke management, and multisystem organ dysfunction management is valued
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at this health system
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • All contracts must extend through January 2, 2027
  • Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract
