Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Critical Care Float RN requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and a VA or compact RN license to work across multiple critical care units.

Details

  • ,U, and CCU units within a hospital critical care float pool
  • Rotates among three 18-bed ICUs and one 6-bed Oncology ICU
  • SICU cares for trauma, surgical complication, neuro, and open-heart surgery patients
  • MICU cares for critically ill patients with exacerbated medical comorbidities
  • CCU cares for post-cardiac procedure patients requiring additional monitoring
  • Oncology ICU cares for critically ill oncology patients including those requiring chemo inductions
  • All units also care for DKA, ETOH withdrawal, and other patients requiring increased levels of care
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-07:00
  • Every other weekend required, including Saturday and Sunday
  • May be scheduled to work if a holiday falls during the assignment period
  • Floating may be requested based on facility needs
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active VA RN license or proof of compact license required in hand
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required, within the last year in the specialty
  • Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • ACLS preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • NIH and stroke education required
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
  • Skilled in ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, and airway suctioning
  • Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and acute/chronic renal failure management
  • Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management, ICP monitoring, EVD, and TBI/spinal cord injury care
  • Experience with post-cardiac surgery care, IABP, and pre/post cardiac catheterization
  • Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and IV insulin protocols
  • ECMO and TAVR experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across multiple critical care units based on facility need
  • Support patients with complex, high-acuity conditions requiring advanced monitoring and intervention
  • Prior permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 6 months before being eligible to travel
  • Candidates cannot work Riverside travel and per diem contracts simultaneously
  • RTO should be minimal, ideally no full calendar week off and no more than 7 total days, submitted at time of application
  • No additional RTO requests will be approved after an offer is extended
  • Local candidates accepted at the same base rate
  • First-time travelers not accepted for this position
