Job Description
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional/Medical Surgical to provide nursing care to adult patients in a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will perform patient assessments, administer medications, provide Med/Surg care, and respond to patient needs in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients in a correctional setting.
- Perform patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
- Administer medications with accurate scanning and documentation.
- Provide Med/Surg care, IV therapy, and peripheral line management.
- Provide oxygen and non-invasive respiratory support as needed.
- Perform wound care and follow isolation/PPE protocols.
- Monitor patients and respond to urgent or emergency situations.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner.
- Float between Cook County facilities as required.
Requirements
- Active RN license.
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute-care Med/Surg experience.
- Correctional nursing experience required.
- BLS required.
- Cerner experience required.
- Strong medication administration and documentation skills.
- Pending licenses not accepted.
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius.
