Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Correctional/Medical Surgical to provide patient care in a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will care for adult patients, perform assessments, administer medications, provide medical-surgical nursing care, and support safe and effective patient treatment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients in a correctional setting.
- Perform patient assessments and monitor changes in condition.
- Administer medications with a high focus on accurate scanning and documentation.
- Provide Med/Surg nursing care and manage peripheral IVs.
- Provide oxygen and non-invasive respiratory support as needed.
- Perform wound care and follow isolation/PPE procedures.
- Monitor patients and respond to urgent or emergency situations.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner.
- Float between Cook County facilities as required based on operational needs.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide safe patient care.
Requirements
- Active RN license.
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute-care Med/Surg experience.
- Correctional nursing experience required.
- BLS required.
- Cerner experience required.
- Strong medication administration and documentation skills.
- Pending licenses not accepted.
- Local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius.
