Physical Therapist Assistant Job Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments and interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Implement individualized treatment plans designed to improve patient mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional independence
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, and mobility activities
- Monitor patient progress and communicate treatment responses to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Educate patients and families regarding home exercise programs and rehabilitation goals
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Ensure patient safety during all treatment sessions
- Assist in achieving rehabilitation goals and improving overall quality of life for patients
Education & Certification Requirements
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current Montana Physical Therapist Assistant License or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date
- Current PTA certification in good standing
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred
- Previous experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, outpatient, hospital, or acute care settings preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel therapy experience
- Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, post-surgical, and geriatric patient populations
- Strong patient care and clinical skills
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
- Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments
