Physical Therapist Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy treatments and interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
  • Implement individualized treatment plans designed to improve patient mobility, strength, balance, endurance, and functional independence
  • Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfer training, and mobility activities
  • Monitor patient progress and communicate treatment responses to the supervising Physical Therapist
  • Educate patients and families regarding home exercise programs and rehabilitation goals
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
  • Ensure patient safety during all treatment sessions
  • Assist in achieving rehabilitation goals and improving overall quality of life for patients

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
  • Current Montana Physical Therapist Assistant License or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date
  • Current PTA certification in good standing
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred
  • Previous experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, outpatient, hospital, or acute care settings preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel therapy experience
  • Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, post-surgical, and geriatric patient populations
  • Strong patient care and clinical skills
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new clinical environments
