Occupational Therapist Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
  • Assess physical, cognitive, developmental, and psychosocial barriers impacting daily living activities
  • Implement evidence-based interventions to improve functional independence and quality of life
  • Provide training in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs)
  • Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to maximize patient safety and independence
  • Educate patients, caregivers, and families on therapeutic techniques and home programs
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, speech therapists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and facility regulations

Education & Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • Current Montana Occupational Therapist License or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start date
  • Current NBCOT certification preferred
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred
  • Previous experience in rehabilitation, hospital, skilled nursing, outpatient, or acute care settings preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel therapy experience
  • Experience working with orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, and post-surgical patient populations
  • SNF (Skilled Nursing Facility), LTC (Long-Term Care), and small facility experience is highly preferred
  • Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities
