CNC Machinist - Horizontal Machining Centers
We're looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to set up and operate Mazak Horizontal Machining Centers in a fast-paced job shop environment. This role focuses on machining large gearing and power transmission components for the mining, construction, oil & gas industries.
What You'll Do:
- Set up and operate Mazak 8800 and Mazak 10800 HMCs (4-axis Mazatrol controls)
- Perform machine setups, changeovers, tool touch-offs, probing, and first-piece inspections
- Work from setup sheets, process sheets, and control plans to maintain quality standards
- Make offset adjustments and monitor proven programs
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools and interpret GD&T requirements
- Machine steel forgings and ductile iron castings to tolerances of ±.001"
What We're Looking For:
- Experience with CNC Horizontal Machining Centers required
- Mazatrol experience preferred, but machinists with other CNC control experience are encouraged to apply
- Strong setup and troubleshooting skills in a job shop environment
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Experience working with low-volume, high-mix production runs
Tools Required: Candidates must provide a basic toolbox including micrometers, calipers, indicators, scales, wrenches, Allen keys, hammer, and pliers.
