Travel Commercial - General Laborer

Skilled Laborer | $20.00–$24.00/Hour + Travel Per Diem

Tired of working hard every day but feeling like you're not actually getting anywhere?

Maybe you're the person who shows up, works hard, figures things out, and gets the job done—but your current job isn't teaching you anything new or giving you somewhere to go.

What if your next job could actually build your future?

At Empire, we're looking for someone who wants more than another labor job. We're looking for someone who wants to learn a trade, travel the country, work with their hands, and become more valuable every year they're here.

You don't have to know everything on Day One.

But you do have to be hungry to learn.

We're Looking for the Person Who...

Shows up when they say they will.

Isn't afraid of hard work, early mornings, long days, or getting dirty.

Likes working outside and would rather build something than sit behind a desk all day.

Can take direction without needing to be told the same thing five times.

Sees something that needs to be done and jumps in.

Wants to learn how to use tools, operate equipment, understand a jobsite, and eventually become the person newer employees look to for answers.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with a growth mindset who wants to become better at their craft and better at life.

Experience can be taught. Work ethic can't.

What Will You Learn at Empire?

You'll travel with an Empire crew to commercial projects across the country, helping install fencing, railing, gates, access control systems, and more.

You'll have the opportunity to learn how to:

  • Install and repair multiple styles of commercial and industrial fencing.
  • Install gates, railing, and access control systems.
  • Properly use hand and power tools.
  • Safely operate equipment such as skid loaders and telescoping boom lifts.
  • Work from layouts and understand how commercial projects come together.
  • Maintain tools and equipment properly.
  • Solve problems when conditions on the jobsite don't go exactly as planned.
  • Work safely around equipment and active construction sites.
  • Earn First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
  • Become a stronger and more skilled member of a commercial construction crew.

You'll support your crew with daily tasks, keep your work area clean and organized, maintain equipment, and do whatever is needed to help the team finish the project the right way.

Where could those skills take you in two years? Five years?

That's something worth finding out.

You'll Fit In Here If...

Empire's core values sound like the way you already try to live.

Grit – When the work gets difficult, you don't disappear.

Loyalty – Your crew can count on you, and you expect to be able to count on them.

Enjoying the Journey – You work hard, but you believe life should still be enjoyed along the way.

Integrity – You do what's right even when nobody is standing over your shoulder.

Positive Mindset – Problems happen. You focus on finding the solution instead of complaining about the problem.

Our people work hard, but work isn't their entire identity. Outside the jobsite, you'll find members of our team hunting, fishing, following sports, racing, spending time outdoors, and making time for their families.

We want people who are serious about building a career and a life they're proud of.

What You'll Need

You don't need decades of construction experience. We're more interested in finding the right person who's willing to learn and work.

You will need:

  • U.S. work authorization.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Dependable and prompt attendance.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
  • Ability or willingness to learn to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability or willingness to learn to operate construction equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, and changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. unassisted.

Construction or landscaping experience is helpful, but your attitude, dependability, and willingness to learn matter just as much.

Travel That Pays

Where Are You Going From Here?

You can keep doing the same thing and hope something changes.

Or you can take the work ethic you already have and put it somewhere that can turn it into skills, experience, responsibility, and a career.

We're not looking for someone who's perfect.

We're looking for someone hungry.

Someone dependable.

Someone who wants to learn.

Someone who takes pride in looking back at the end of the day and seeing what their crew accomplished.

If you've got Grit, Loyalty, Integrity, a Positive Mindset, and know how to Enjoy the Journey, we should probably talk.

The question isn't whether you can do this job.

It's what you could become if someone gives you the opportunity to learn it.
