Perform all levels of laboratory testing, including high-complexity testing.
Evaluate, interpret, and validate laboratory test results for accuracy.
Identify and troubleshoot inconsistent or abnormal patient results.
Perform testing in areas including microbiology, transfusion medicine, molecular biology, and infectious disease safety.
Ensure proper specimen collection, suitability, processing, and testing.
Provide laboratory medicine and LIS support to clinical and nursing staff.
Maintain laboratory instruments and equipment and ensure proper functionality.
Monitor and review quality control data and take corrective action when needed.
Develop and update laboratory policies and procedures using appropriate standards.
Assist with preparation for CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory inspections.
Review the work of MLTs and LSTs and assist with task assignments.
Train and mentor new employees, staff, and laboratory students.
Participate in continuing education and process improvement activities.
Maintain appropriate laboratory inventory and supply levels.
Assist the Laboratory Manager with competency assessments and quality initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
